You probably emptied or deleted the folder specified as your library in configuration.

Seems to work great on Ubuntu 16.04 :)
Questions / Re: Do Not Sort Artists By The Article "The"

Great! Where is the option? I can't find it.
Suggestions / Shuffle: distributed random
« Last post by publicradio on May 08, 2017, 19:28:53 »
Would it be possible to shuffle a playlist in a distributed way? Meaning, it would try to play every artist once before it played any artist again. So let's say you had a bunch of artists with one song each, and one artist with 8 songs. The playlist would try to play 8 different artists before it played the one with 8 songs, so the recurrence would be distributed across the playlist.

The idea is that you're always getting variety, like on the radio where they (hopefully) wouldn't play the same artist twice in a row, or twice within a 20 minute period, et cetera.
Before using gmusicbrowser, I was using Clementine, which uses SQLite. I wrote a few queries that would help me create playlists based on length and number of tracks. So I can have a playlist of all albums with 10 or more songs on them, 'EPs' (5-7 tracks), 'Singles' (1-2 tracks), and I also have lists of albums that are over an hour, under 45 minutes, et cetera.

When clementine scans your library, it keeps the track lengths in the db. I assume gmusicbrowser does as well, because it can quickly calculate the total runtime. What do you think about adding 'album length' and 'tracks per album' as filter criteria?

I know sometimes the track number field is written as 4/12, where '12' is the total number of tracks. If this were in use, it would be possible to filter complete/incomplete albums.
Suggestions / Multiple album tags
« Last post by publicradio on May 08, 2017, 19:26:32 »
I see that gmusicbrowser allows multiple genre tags. Is it possible to also have multiple album tags? I have some songs that appear on an LP, and also a soundtrack or compilation. The recording is identical but I want the song to be in multiple albums when appropriate. Is this even feasible?
Questions / How do I disable the Equalizer? (And clean presets)
« Last post by krafty on May 04, 2017, 00:53:54 »
Thanks for this superior music player to all!
I have a question though...

I enabled Equalizer, and tested a few presets.
But I see no where in which I can disable it.

Any ideas?

Have you tried booting a LiveCD and install gmb and see if alsa shows up? (To rule out that something is messy with your current install.)
Questions / Creating tabs/filter panes from non-standard ID3 tags?
« Last post by pastic on April 26, 2017, 22:18:41 »
I am trying to find a way to implement sorting for large boxsets (that I for various reasons want to be able to access as a first group and then drill down to the album level). In foobar on Windows I managed to create rules that filtered according a custom-made tag "boxset" which held the title of the boxset; all files that had that tag not empty would display in a pane, and from there I could drill down into any collection and choose albums.

But I find that GMB (1.1.15) does not seem to bother with using my tags. I have created custom fields with various versions of my boxset tag, but after reboot I cannot use any of them for creating a tab in the Library module (middle pane). They simply don't show up in the right-click menu of "+ Add tab". They do show up when I create colums in the lower half of the window, but they do not fetch the data from the tags, even though on advanced inspection the data is there.

The best I have achieved in getting the effect I want is putting the title of the Boxset in the Grouping tag, but that does not feel optimal.

Does anyone have tips on how to implement a tab with boxset titles (to be where the Grouping tab is in the screenshot)?
French / Pb mémorisation et avance rapide
« Last post by spearit on April 03, 2017, 19:32:46 »
