Hi Quentin,

have you considered generating "smart" playlist based on similarities found in music files? When having
a large collection of music labeling each song becomes unfeasible and time-demanding.
There are many algorithms for classification of instruments, measuring mood, and genre
similarity etc. which could automatically put a label for each song or help with filling up queue.

I guess for most of users is "Scan for new songs" and "Check for removed/updated songs" the same. For a programmer it's a different task but when you rename a folder you have to perform two tasks (or wait for restart of gmusicplayer). I would just call it "Check for changes" and perform both of them even if it might take longer time.

what about http://www.chartlyrics.com/api.aspx and http://lyricsfly.com/api/ and http://musixmatch.com/lyrics-api-terms/ ?

Would it be possible to sort lyrics sites with priority and in case that the first one doesn't find a lyric, then try the second one etc
