Aah I see it now, thanks very much.

Unfortunately that doesnt really help. What I would like to do is set up a smart playlist which selects random tracks from my library but which will not exceed , say, 7Gb in total length without having to delete tracks from the playlist.

Thanks again

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I must be missing something really obvious because I have been through the other layouts but unfortunately I cannot see anything that looks like a Total widget anywhere on the screen. The only thing I have found is the size option when creating/editing a playlist but that only allows up to Mb sizes. Would a screenshot be possible?

btw I am using gmusicbrowser 1.1.9 as provided in Mints/Ubuntus repositories, could that be the problem?

Thanks again

To view the length/size of a list, there is a widget that can do that (called Total), it also has a mode to show the size/length of the selected songs. Some layouts have it some don't, I want to add it to "list library and context" but I don't know where, adding it to one side only breaks the symmetry between the 2 sides, adding it to both may be too much.

That's interesting as I would also like to be able to limit a playlist to a certain size in order to fit onto a microsd card in an android phone. Can you tell me which layoiuts have the 'Total' widget pls

I Hope The title is understandable. Not sure if this is the correct forum.

Basically, I have discovered a problem when using GMB. I have more than 4000 tracks and they are split into several different playlists. I was listening to one of these this evening, one containing a little over 2000 tracks.  When the track changed I clicked on the Back button (<<<) to play the track again in order to check on the playcount tag and then I clicked on the Fwd button (>>>). However instead of playing another track from my playlist I got a track from another one. When I  checked under the Playlist Filter menu option I found that my original playlist had been deselected and in fact no playlist was selected at all. This meant that I was listening to a random track from the entire collection.

I have repeated this several times and the same thing happens each time.

nb. Sorry - I forgot to say that I am using LinuxMint8 and running GMB 1.0.2

Suggestions / Re: Save an artist image

If I save an artist image via web search, the default name is "cover.jpg". It's possible to customize this by configuration dialog?

FWIW i don't find it a problem to replace the word cover with artist_album before saving anyway. That way all the pics are labelled as I want.

Questions / Re: Using USB Audio
April 12, 2010, 09:48:21
Thanks for all the comments. I haven't had to try any of them tho because I have found cure. I have swapped distros to LinuxMint and everything works fine, I can even plug the speakers in after I have booted and then set them as the output device.

Thanks again

Questions / [Solved] - Using USB Audio
February 14, 2010, 20:01:04
Good evening,

I am using gmusicbrowser (v1.0.2) on pclinuxos running kde4.3, on an Acer Travelmate 5320 laptop, and am having problems using a pair of altec lansing usb speakers. The speakers are identified by kde as using:

ALSA:x-phonon:CARD=Audio,Dev=0

The speakers are set as the desired default, when connected, for all services and work fine through the usb port with amarok, and are controllable using kmix.

I have tried all manner of configurations in the audio tab of the settings, for both gstreamer and mplayer but the only way I can get an output is by connecting an audio lead from my headphone socket to the line in on the side of the speakers. Whilst this works and gives excellent sound I would like to be able to use them direct.

Has anyone any ideas as to what I may need to do or can point me in the right direction for further testing please.

Regards
