Questions / Re: Copying Playlist Files
June 29, 2016, 18:25:56
i still think that it's not a gmb issue if you try to copy into a "system" directory ...
on my system no regular user can copy anything into the "run" directory ....
just my 2 cents

Hi

This is a very interesting question for me as well.
I wanna copy all the files in my current playlist onto a sd-card or thumb-drive.
But i wanna keep exactly the same play order.
I do understand that, depending on the external player the sequence is following the way the other system is organised.
That's why, maybe a new field or tag get's exported as well which let's me sort the playlist according to that ...
Any ideas how to achieve that ? I am talking about appr. 200 songs which i wanna play always in that play order ...
The reason for doing so is that i wanna have a second backup computer which can replace my main system if this is dying suddenly and i can just continue playing the songs from the old one even on a simple player software like deadbeef or alike ...

Hi

I don't think this is a gmusicbrowser related issue.
Can you try to copy to a random folder on your desktop first ?
By doing so you shall be able to see whether your sd-card or thumb drive is just mounted incorrectly by your operating system ...

Hi - What is the correct PPA to always follow the very latest version? I have seen PPA's from "aboettcher" as well as "ochosi" ... ?
Or is there another correct one ? Thx.

Questions / Re: [SOLVED] Pre_Listening a Song

Hi Quentin

Thx. for your reply. Now it's working fine again. And i made a mistake by myself. In order to launch DeaDBeeF from the command line i need to add the full path to the executable.

BTW: Just to give you some feedback. I have used your latest gmb on a lenovo T510 (8gb) on top of AV Linux 6.0.4 for 14 hours of continous operation with a music database of appr. 470.0000 songs sitting on an external 3TB USB harddisk. In this library i have many,, many duplicates and during this gig i did a lot searching and arranging songs. I did not have a single hickup and/or dropout in jack with a latency of 17.4ms which is good enough for me. Thank you again for this wonderful piece of software.

Now the preview is working again AND if crossfade is added to the feature list i would be delighted! On a song change i usually have a too much silence which is not nice if you play to the public.

And - is there a way (filter) to re-find & select the songs played during the latest gig for future reference? The library is new and so i did a custom filter with a playcount =1. In order to find these songs again at a later stage, when they have been played more than one time, i did a "save current list as". Will these files now be selectable forever? How can i add/remove files from that list? I don't wanna remove them from the library - only from that list....  will "edit list" do this job?

Thx.

Sorry I forgot to answer sooner.
sadly I'm not planning to add any of these in the near future :(
- crossfader : I'm hoping it will be added to gstreamer's playbin2 before I have to implement it myself, both solution are not in the near future anyway

Update: I used gmusicbrowser last weekend to play my music to a wider audience for 48 hours nonstop. My library is > 25K Songs and i had NOT A SINGLE hickup. gmusicbrowser is really great stuff! Thank you. But at this occasion i was missing the crossfader even more ...

re: No.2: i planned to do a plugin that would create playlists via querying last.fm's similarity-database, but i haven't started yet because i haven't been able to settle on the right approach (create playlist, fill up queue, etc.). anyway, we'll see if i get around to it anytime soon, no promises...

That sounds really great. Wish you can find the time. For the implementation - as mentioned before - guayadeque's smart play mode works quite well - i guess somebody who can read the sources might get a good idea how to get this going.

Hi

Thx. for your kind reply. My priority list is:

No. 1 - crossfader
No. 2 - smart play mode
No. 3 - internet radio - cancelled - there are plenty alternatives around and it's not key anyway ...

No. 1 - Maybe somebody has an idea/workaround to achieve crossfading w/o waiting on playbin2 - it just sounds so professional ... :-)
No. 2 - Very, very handy because i can leave the computer and the machine doesn't stop playing similar kind of stuff to the audience ;-)

@quentin

Thx. - now it behaves exactly like i want it to ..
I've added this into the export dialogue:

deadbeef $files &

DeaDBeeF comes up playing one or more selected files via the internal soundcard on my headphones.

Hi

gmb is going to replace guayadeque as my main music application.

I actually prefer gmb over guayadeque because it appears to me that i's
not so close to Ubuntu and it's extraordinary configurability ;-)

There are just these 3 features which i couldn't see/find by now:

- Configurable crossfader engine
- Smart play mode that add tracks that fit your music taste using the tracks currently in play list
- Record from internet radios

BINGO! - Thank you so much!

"apt-get install libgstreamer-perl" fixed it.

Questions / [SOLVED] Audio
June 19, 2011, 18:28:08
Dear All

By some mysterious effect after "apt-get autoremove" the gstreamer option in audio is greyed out. mpg123/ogg123/.. & mplayer & Icecast-Server are still available. I realized that cpu-load is much higher in mpg123/ogg123/.. mode. In gstreamer mode it was appr. 15% now it's appr. 45%. Any ideas how to revert this to gstreamer?

Thx. - i just don't get it ... %f starts and adds to deadbeef. But the dialogue window in gmb stays open as long as deadbeef is playing making the ui unusable. I need to close deadbeef in order to make the dialogue in mpd to go away...
