Hi

Just realized that actually I'm probably comparing the directory structure created by musicbrainz picard when I reorganized my music some time ago with the directory structure created by gmb.

Will look at it again in this light.

Hi again

I've copied my 80+ rated tracks to my mp3 player using copy to portable player (via a temporary linux directory).

I'm then exporting m3u files from custom playlist filters such as 80+ excluding classical and xmas.

Unfortunately when I play back the playlists (on the player or on my Linux PC) quite a few tracks are not found.

It appears that:

copy to portable player removes ":",  "..." and replaces replaces "?" with "_"

export to m3u file replaces ":" with "_" and  "?" with "_"  and replaces "..." with ".._"

There may be other substitutions that I haven't found.

I can get around this issue by using copy to portable player for each custom filter and then creating playlists from each temporary directory individually via another method but it's not a very elegant solution.

Hi again

In case anyone has the same issue and is waiting for the next release I thought I should mention that I just realized that the "does not include" rather than "does not contain" option for labels (and moods BTW) works perfectly and gives me perfect control over my collection!

I have started putting a selection onto my new Fiio X1 mp3 player but have a small issue with the export plugin which I will detail in a new post.

Thanks again for a brilliant system.

Questions / Custom fields in custom layouts
June 17, 2015, 08:53:42
Hi

Is it possible in custom layouts to edit custom fields (such as my 2 custom rating fields) without opening song properties or to add the moods field to the right click menu?

Questions / unexpected custom filter behaviour
June 05, 2015, 11:15:24
Hi

I have a custom field:

neil-rating, field type - rating, field name - Neil (not using standard rating field as Gill and I have very different musical preferences)

In field Label (field name Labels) I currently have Classical, Duplicate and Live options

I set up a custom filter to find non duplicate tracks that I haven't rated as below:

All of:
Neil set to default

Any of:
Labels has none
Labels doesn't contain duplicate

The "Labels has none line" seems unnecessary but without it the filter only contains tracks with the default rating and with "Classical" in Labels

I can't understand how it took me so long to find gmusicbrowser but am really enjoying having control over my music collection for the first time in around 10 years. My son wrote a windows multi-rating filtering mp3 player when he was 14 (now 30) but lost interest and never delivered v2 or a native linux version. Unfortunately organization changes to my music directory structure have negated the 15k tracks Gill and I had rated in it. Before switching to gmusicbrowser I had used guayadeque for a few months but it simply does not deliver the same degree of control or usability. It did, however, enable me to create playlists of my classifications and ratings which the multi-track editing capabilities of gmb made short work of.

Many thanks

Questions / Re: Symbolic link help

Sorry to waste your time. Tried again and no duplicates. I think I must have left the "settings" folder last time causing a scan and doubling up the tracks.

Questions / Symbolic link help
June 04, 2015, 08:01:01
I am in the process of migrating from PCLinuxOS to openSUSE Tumbleweed.

to simplify this and any future OS change I have set up a link to my music directory, opened gmbrd, used find replace in kwrite to replace all folder references with the new link and changed the folder in settings.

The result is that every track is duplicated. How can I get gmb to remove the tracks with the original path and retain those with the linked path?

Questions / Re: library crash
June 01, 2015, 07:59:17
No problem thx for the reply.

Problem occurs in the lists, library & context layout when the content in the column section has focus and I hit any key from a-z or 0-9.

This may well be a problem specific to my PCLinuxOS setup as I just tested same on my laptop running Mint 17.1 and it doesn't crash.

I wouldn't worry too much, on my account, about this because it isn't causing me any problem. I'm in the process of setting up openSUSE Tumbleweed with gmb 1.1.14 and this may become my primary OS on my desktop PC.

I do have a minor issue with custom filters which I will post in a new topic.

I really love gmusicbrowser.

Questions / library crash
May 24, 2015, 17:23:35
Hi

I'm a new user - just moved my 20k+ tracks, multiple user ratings and custom labels in from Guayadeque and finding gmusicbrowser to be a major improvement in terms of layout, information and filtering.

Using gmb 1.1.12 in PCLinusOS.

Apologies if this has been already documented but I find that gmb can be crashed by inputting any A/N key into the column section of the library section of the lists, library & context layout.
