Dear all,

are there any plans to better support portable devices such as portable media players or smart phones via usb? I read in the wiki that there are plans to better support ipod (http://wiki.gmusicbrowser.org/plans).

I am especially looking for MTP support for portable devices. Actually I use the latest version of gvfs MTP Backend  available on https://launchpad.net/~langdalepl/+archive/gvfs-mtp. With that package I am able to mount the mp3 player in MTP mode and to copy any media files to it using nautilus and the internal libraries in the mp3 player are built correctly. The available export plugin cannot resolve mount point for my mp3 player connected via this gvfs Backend to copy mp3 files on my device.

Kind regards

Sorry I don't know much about how gvfs work and I don't have a MTP player to test it.
What path is displayed for the device in nautilus ? (press ctrl-l to have the path as a string)
I remember gvfs used to mount my usb keys in a ~/.gvfs/ folder, now on ubuntu they get mounted in a /media/ folder. If the path is always the same you can easily copy the path and put it in the export plugin option.

Also in case you missed it, you can drag and drop songs from gmb to the nautilus window.
